In the spirit of our founder, Andre Smith, the A&H is regularly seeking artists who can contribute to our artistic community. In most cases, this participation comes through our Artists in Residence and Artists in Action programs, but occasionally, additional opportunities arise. Please see below for current opportunities for artistic participation at the A&H.
Artists in Residence
The A&H artist-in-residence program offers an unparalleled architectural environment with opportunities for seclusion, research, collaboration and contemplation. The residency will cover all room costs and a stipend will be provided based on the length or your stay. Stipends: 3 week residency = $500, 6 week residency = $1,000, 9 week residency = $1,500. The artist-in-residence also will receive a one-person exhibition to be scheduled within two years at the Art Center galleries. View the Artists-in-Residence application HERE. Applications may be submitted between July 4 and October 3.
Artists in Action
This program provides non-‐residential studio space at A&H’s Maitland Art Center to established or emerging artists for the professional practice and research of fine art. This program is an exciting opportunity to interact with A&H’s community of artists and art enthusiasts while working in this uniquely rich and historic environment. The AIA program is open to artists working in any medium. The artist will be available for a designated 12-‐month period and can participate for a maximum of 3 consecutive years. View the Artists-in-Action application HERE. Applications may be submitted between June 6 and July 1.
