The Italian-born, Brooklyn-based abstract artist describes her work as being rooted in history. Gallery Conversation with Artist Jane Turner

The Maitland Art Center's spring exhibition proudly features both an insider's and outsider's perspective of the African-American community in Maitland and Eatonville during the 20th century. The outsider is the Maitland Art Center's own founder, J. André Smith, and the insider perspective is brought by local artist Jane Turner, who still lives and works in Eatonville and Maitland. Meet Ms. Turner and hear how her personal history intertwines with local history - and how her artwork is influenced by both.
