Eric Ondina

Painting

Eric Ondina (1988) received his BFA from Florida State University in 2013 and his MFA from the University of South Florida in 2019. Eric’s practice is based out of his studio in Ybor City, a lively historic section of Tampa, Florida. Eric has exhibited locally and nationally, most recently, at The Ringling for the 2021 Skyway Exhibition, as well as at the UCF and Rollins Art Museums for the 2022 Pathways Exhibit. Eric paints with a homemade, egg tempera formulation which he creates from a viscous balsam, a fossilized hard resin, egg yolk, and water; all mutually insoluble ingredients that require patience and concentration to manipulate. Although this approach to craft may harken back to earlier traditions of paintings, Eric paints in a gestural and organic style paired with topical subject matter which speaks to the contemporary moment. Eric teaches art and design at Hillsborough Community College and the University of Tampa.

Ryan Price

Bookmaking, Drawing, and Printmaking

Ryan Otero Price is a Central Florida-based artist. Ryan received his MFA from UCF in 2022. Ryan’s surreal still life compositions and enigmatic figural combinations–the minaret-women, cyclopean luthiers, skeletal creatures in cap ‘n’ bells, motley jinns, and the tokusatsu sword fighter–recreate the workings of dreams, suggesting the Freudian technique of free association. These juxtaposed objects and figures transmute mythologies into signs that transcend the intervention of the conscious mind.
