Ladies’ Art Lounge

Enjoy Quality Time with Your Girlfriends!

The Art & History Museums – Maitland proudly presents Ladies Art Lounge, a program that focuses on friendships and creativity, with a lot of fun thrown in the mix.  Ladies’ Art Lounge is designed for women who want an evening out with friends where they can talk, have a glass of wine, and learn something new in a casual and fun atmosphere.  The program is held on the first Friday of every month from 5:30 to 7:30 PM.  Each event features one of the A&H’s talented faculty members leading a program in which you can let your creative juices flow.  Have fun creating fine art and craft pieces for your home, as a gift, or even to wear.  These pieces are sure to hold special memories of time well spent with your dearest friends.

So gather your girlfriends and meet us at the A&H for Ladies’ Art Lounge!

Admission is $20 for A&H members and $25 for not-yet-members.  A cash wine bar is available.  Outside alcohol is not permitted.  Pre-registration is required.

Create wonderful wearable jewelry with artist Marla E. using recycled Styrofoam, cardboard and other found objects. Works will be embellished with a variety of materials including tissue paper, mod-podge, acrylic paint, wire wrappings, beads and gems. Paper-based jewelry is durable and water-resistant. Once you know the basics, the sky is the limit to what you can create.

Friday, June 7: Pottery with Cindy McDowell

Make your own flower pot to go in your garden. Hand build the pot, add embellishments and choose a glaze. Pots will be fired and returned to you a week after the event.

Friday, July 5: Bookbinding with Whitney Broadaway
in the Germaine Marvel Building
learn to bind your own quick and easy sketchbooks or journals using the Japanese Stab Stitch.  A variety of colorful thread and decorative paper will be provided and you will have the opportunity to make multiple books and try out different decorative stitches.  You will leave with the know-how to continue making books at home.

Friday, August 2: Cyanotype Printing with Rebecca Sexton Larson
