Encaustic painting is the process of painting with hot pigmented beeswax. This technique is ancient, but has become increasingly popular with modern artists of today. Come delve into the versatility of this fascinating medium that invites you to experiment! Participants will learn about encaustic history, safety, surfaces, and fusing. In this comprehensive class we will be exploring a variety of techniques such as incising, image transfers, pigment sticks, mark-making, collage, mono-printing, and incorporating photos. If you have been working in encaustic previously and want a chance to concentrate on honing in on your skills, work in a series or find your voice this is for you also! All materials are supplied.
All skill levels welcome! This is for beginners and artists well versed in encaustic alike. The instructor, Shelley Jean, will work with you individually to accomplish your goals during this 3 day intensive.
Cost: $245, plus $45 supply fee to the instructor
