Encaustic painting is an ancient technique\, but it has become increasingly popular with contemporary artists. Come delve into the versatility of this fascinating process that encourages experimentation! In this comprehensive 2-day workshop\, students will learn about encaustic history\, safety\, surfaces\, and fusing. A variety of techniques will be explored\, such as incising\, layering\, pigment sticks\, mark-making\, mixed media collage\, mono-printing\, and incorporating photos. DESCRIPTION:Instructor: Marion Fague-Bass \nLocation: Maitland Art Center Studio 10 \nCost: $65 + $55 materials fee \nLearn how to use a silicone compound to make reusable molds from natural plant materials. You may bring items from your own yard or forage right on the Art Center grounds! Small leaves\, tiny flowers\, and weeds work best. Then\, using your handmade molds and metal clay\, you will create charms for bracelets\, earrings\, or pendants. All pieces will be fired after the workshop and available for pick-up the following week. Included in the materials fee is 10 grams of fine silver metal clay and your choice of one sterling silver chain\, one leather cord with clasp\, one pair of sterling silver ear wires\, OR one lobster claw spring clasp.
