SUMMARY:Future Nature: A Panel Discussion
DESCRIPTION:This panel discussion will bring together Seminole State College humanities scholars Trent Tomengo and Dr. Kathryn Steinhaus\, along with biology professor Dr. Debra Socci. This interdisciplinary discussion will explore how humankind’s relationship with nature has been reflected in cultural expressions throughout history\, with a particular focus on the arts. The scholars will trace the evolution of these narratives\, examining how scientific advancements have shaped our understanding and representation of the natural world. This historical perspective will provide valuable context for interpreting Sinuhé Vega Negrin’s work and understanding our current ecological challenges. \nThis evening event is presented during our monthly Last Wednesday hours\, when we open our gallery free of charge with a cash bar from 5:30-8pm. Learn more here. \nRegister Here>>

SUMMARY:Dine Al Fresco with the Artist: Community Dinner
DESCRIPTION:Guests are invited to join artist Sinuhé Vega Negrin and A&H staff for a vegetarian potluck dinner in the center’s Main Garden\, where they will hear from Negrin and A&H Chief Curator Dan Hess as they break bread together. The evening will conclude with a tour of the exhibition. All are welcome and encouraged to bring a dish to share. Utensils will be provided\, and dishes must be nut-free. \nThis evening event is presented during our monthly Last Wednesday hours\, when we open our gallery free of charge with a cash bar from 5:30-8pm. Learn more here. \nSign Up Here>>\nFuture Nature: The Silent Conversations of Sinuhé Vega Negrin showcases paintings and ceramic sculptures that delve into themes of ecological and human fragility. Inspired by the Dutch Vanitas tradition\, Negrin’s new works evoke contemplation on mortality and the pursuit of divine wisdom through earthly reflections. His paintings depict balancing sculptural heads and vessels within lush tropical landscapes\, symbolizing humanity’s precarious mental constructs and our disconnection from nature. Negrin’s conversation centers on our future relationship with the natural world\, calling for greater ecological awareness and a renewed spiritual connection. These pieces invite viewers to reflect on their role in envisioning a future nature\, where the need for a harmonious coexistence with nature is paramount\, and where human and ecological resilience are intertwined.
