SUMMARY:Homeschool Day at the Waterhouse Residence and Carpentry Shop Museums
DESCRIPTION:Step back in time and discover the Victorian era of the Waterhouse Family! Learn about architecture in the 1880’s and explore the tools Mr. Waterhouse used to build the Waterhouse Residence in our Carpentry Shop Museum. Students will go on a scavenger hunt as they explore the architecture details outside the Waterhouse Residence and then become an architect by using different drawing tools and sketching their own Victorian era home. Students will round out their day by making a silhouette in a frame\, a popular way to capture the image of a person or animal during the Victorian period! \nThe cost is $10 per child and includes all the art supplies and $5 per chaperone. Afterwards\, you’re invited to extend your outing with a picnic lunch and playground fun at Lake Lily Park! \nSpace is limited for students in grades K – 5 (but middle school students are welcome too). Please note: all children must be accompanied by an adult for the entire duration of the program. Due to the small nature of our homeschool days\, refunds are not available and pre-registration on Eventbrite is required. \nPre-register here>> \nIf you have any questions about our homeschool days\, please feel free to contact our education team at education@artandhistory.org.

SUMMARY:Future Nature: The Silent Conversations of Sinuhé Vega Negrin
DESCRIPTION:Future Nature: The Silent Conversations of Sinuhé Vega Negrin showcases paintings and ceramic sculptures that delve into themes of ecological and human fragility. Inspired by the Dutch Vanitas tradition\, Negrin’s new works evoke contemplation on mortality and the pursuit of divine wisdom through earthly reflections. His paintings depict balancing sculptural heads and vessels within lush tropical landscapes\, symbolizing humanity’s precarious mental constructs and our disconnection from nature. Negrin’s conversation centers on our future relationship with the natural world\, calling for greater ecological awareness and a renewed spiritual connection. These pieces invite viewers to reflect on their role in envisioning a future nature\, where the need for a harmonious coexistence with nature is paramount\, and where human and ecological resilience are intertwined.
