SUMMARY:Sweet\, Fresh\, Juicy: Florida Citrus in Art and History
DESCRIPTION:  \nThe citrus industry had an enormous impact on Central Florida and Maitland in particular during the mid-20th century. This exhibition\, which spans the Maitland Art Center Gallery and the Maitland Historical Museum\, celebrates the region’s finest export. \nIn the Maitland Historical Museum\, examine the rise and fall of the Central Florida citrus industry through a collection of historic citrus labels from some of Central Florida’s growers and packers\, many on loan from the Orange County Regional History Center’s vast archives. \nIn the Maitland Art Center Gallery\, we embrace Florida’s premier citrus while honoring the farmworker through a collection of citrus-themed artwork from local and national artists\, as well as Maitland Art Center founder J. André Smith’s interpretations of the orange groves that once surrounded his studio. \nSweet\, Fresh\, Juicy is sponsored by:

SUMMARY:Haunted Tours at the Maitland Art Center
DESCRIPTION:Greater Orlando’s only National Historic Landmark has quite the history. Named “one of the most haunted spots in Central Florida” by the Orlando Weekly\, it holds more than 80 years of stories within its walls. On this tour\, you will hear the history and ghost stories of the facility from its staff and students. The Maitland Art Center\, originally named the Research Studio\, was built by artist J. André Smith during the final years of his life\, from 1937-1959. The high walls of the center were created to keep curious minds from encroaching on Smith’s territory during his life\, before being officially opened to the public many years after his death. A&H staff still feels the presence of André 58 years later\, keeping an eye on the grounds and letting it be known when he is not happy. \nAdvance tickets: $10 member\, $15 general;\nWalk-up (limited): $15 A&H members; $20 general \nTours run every half hour from 6:30-9pm. Space is limited to ensure a great tour experience for all guests. Advance purchase is recommended as this event typically sells out! \nLooking for more haunts? Join us at the Victorian-era Waterhouse Residence Museum for a paranormal investigation!

SUMMARY:Paranormal Investigations at the Waterhouse Residence Museum
DESCRIPTION:Built in 1884 by pioneer settler William Waterhouse\, the Victorian-style home on the shore of Lake Lily was lovingly restored to its former glory and showcases what life may have been like in the early days of Maitland. Join the team for a full investigation of the home using their detection equipment – there’s no telling who or what you may encounter. \nThree tours per night at 6:30\, 8:00\, and 9:30. \nAdvance tickets: $25 member\, $30 general;\nWalk-up (limited): $30 A&H members; $35 general \nLooking for more haunts? Join us at the Maitland Art Center for a haunted historical tour!
