Girl Scout Day at the Art & History Museums of Maitland
January 13 @ 8:00 am - 2:00 pm
Art & History Museums – Maitland
Calling all girls (grades K-5) PLUS Daisies, Brownies, and Juniors! You’re invited to step into the fantastical world of artist, master printmaker and architect Jules Andre’ Smith at the Art & History Museums of Maitland.
Become inspired on a mini-tour of our National Historic Landmark Campus, where you’ll see some of Andre’s 2500 concrete reliefs adorned on buildings, doorways, walkways and gardens. Our tour ends in our main garden, surrounded by a dozen artist studios that Andre’ built nearly 100 years ago as an artist colony for visiting artists to live and work together in this creative and magical space.
In the “plein air” (open-air) of our garden, you’ll learn about the fine art of printmaking! You’ll discover the tools to create a collagraph print, and then create your own art print inspired by our beautiful garden, Andre’s concrete reliefs, or your own imagination! Girls will be able to explore collage materials, make a plate, ink a plate, and pull a print!
Girls will receive an “Exclusive” Fun Patch, complements of the Art & History Museums and Girls Scouts of Citrus!
This program was created with the Girl Scouts of Citrus to satisfy all the requirements for the Girl Scout Outdoor Art Badge at your child’s level (badges avilable from your Girl Scout Troop Leader or the Girl Scouts of Citrus Shop)!
The cost is $10 per child and includes all the art supplies and $5 per adult. Please note, that this is not a drop off program. Parents and troop leaders will need to stay with their girls throughout the program, and due to the small capacity of the program, refunds are not available.
