Summer Evenings with André
July 14, 2018 @ 7:30 pm - 9:30 pm
Art & History Museums – Maitland
25
Did you know that J. André Smith, founder of the Maitland Art Center, was not only an architect and artist, but also a playwright?! This Summer, the A&H — in partnership with Central Florida Community Arts — will regale you with his tales of romance, murder, comedy and drama! Three Saturday evenings of play readings will be offered, each followed by a Q&A session. All proceeds benefit the Art & History Museums – Maitland’s National Historic Landmark.
Please note, due to the adult themes, these plays are recommended for ages 13 and up, with parental discretion.

The first of the three play readings (July 14) was a fabulous treat. — one of the attendees had this to say:
“Tonight I attended a Summer Evening with André…I was embarrassed that as a 23 year Maitland resident it has taken me this long to spend an evening with André Smith. What an incredible man, artist, writer, thinker, creator Smith was… Director Kaitlyn Harrington and her band of actors did an outrageous job of bringing to life such edge-of-your-seat, funny, deplorable, sad human life stories that incredibly could all be any of our life stories. I found myself sucked into each character and each act.” -Margaret
