June 11, 2020 @ 1:00 pm - 2:00 pm
Art & History Museums – Maitland
In 1937 the visionary architect, artist, and author, Jules André Smith opened the Research Studio, an artist village where artists could live and work. Smith designed the campus to be a place of work and contemplation, surrounding it with walls adorned with ornate reliefs and adjoining artist studios with lush gardens and private courtyards. Today the campus is home to the Art and History Museums – Maitland, where Smith’s dream of fostering a place for artistic creativity still thrives. Join us for our Afternoon Art Tour on June 11th from 1-2 pm to explore this beautiful campus and delve into the architectural design of one of Smith’s greatest artistic achievements.
