A&H’s Maitland Art Center
Make new friends at the A&H Members-Only Book Club! Join A&H Director of Advancement Jessi VanPelt every other month to share your opinions on fascinating topics in the realms of art and history. This month we will meet in the Maitland Art Center gallery. At the end of each meeting, we’ll vote on what book to read together next.
At this meeting, we’ll discuss Picasso’s War: How Modern Art Came to America, by Hugh Eakin. Picasso’s War is the never-before-told story about how a single exhibition, a decade in the making, irrevocably changed American taste, and in doing so saved dozens of the twentieth century’s most enduring artworks from the Nazis. Through a deft combination of new scholarship and vivid storytelling, Hugh Eakin shows how two men and their obsession with Picasso changed the art world forever. You can find this title on Amazon (in print, audio and Kindle) as well as many online used bookstores.
Don’t have time to finish the book? Check out this 1-hour interview with the author!
