A&H Conversations with Dr. Stacy Tanner
June 28, 2023 @ 6:00 pm - 7:00 pm
Art & History Museums Maitland
A&H Conversations invites lifetime learners like you to discuss fascinating topics anchored in Central Florida history, arts, and culture. New themes are presented monthly by visiting subject matter experts.
This A&H Conversation will center on one of Maitland’s great love stories. Learn about nineteenth-century LGBTQ history through the poignant relationship of one-time First Lady of the United States, Rose Cleveland, and her “most precious and adored” lover, Evangeline Whipple. Presented by Dr. Stacy Tanner of Seminole State University. Click here to register>>
To learn more about this amazing story, you can visit our Maitland History Museum — it will be open with free admission from 5:30-8pm for Last Wednesday. You can also read a moving collection of their love letters to one another in Precious and Adored by Lizzie Ehrenhalt and Tilly Laskey (copies available in our museum store).
A&H Conversations occur during our Last Wednesday event hours, which run from 5:30-8pm. Every Last Wednesday we open up after hours, provide a bar, and offer free admission to one of the museums. Learn more about Last Wednesdays here >>
