Encaustic is an artistic medium consisting of hot, pigmented beeswax. Encaustic painting is an ancient technique, but it has become increasingly popular with contemporary artists. Come delve into the versatility of this fascinating process that encourages experimentation!
In this comprehensive 1-day workshop, students will learn about encaustic history, safety, surfaces, and fusing. A variety of techniques will be explored, such as incising, layering, pigment sticks, mark-making, mixed media collage, mono-printing, and incorporating photos. Students will make multiple pieces of art by utilizing the learned techniques. All materials will be supplied. All skill levels are welcome!
