Free Fall Family Day at A&H
October 26 @ 10:00 am - 1:00 pm
A&H’s Maitland Art Center
Bring your whole family to say goodbye to summer and hello to autumn at our Fall Family Day!
As the new season unfolds, the fall days, touched by less sunlight, wake up new colors in nature! When the green in leaves begins to fade, new colors like red, yellow, orange and fuchsias are revealed! The warm glow of sunlight and rich palette of colors make for a truly beautiful season!
Surrounded by artists’ studios in our main garden, families will dive deep into the colors of the season at our watercolor paper lantern workshop! We’ll explore blending fall colors on our lantern canvas, and then capture the fading daylight of fall by decorating our lanterns with glittering papers, shiny confetti, golden sequins, wonderful beads and iridescent ribbons!
A&H’s Maitland Art Center was originally built in 1937 as an artists’ colony and named the Research Studio. Our founder, artist J. Andre’ Smith, had a dream that all artists creating in this space would experiment with art, and we can’t think of a more fun way to celebrate fall by playing with the colors and golden light of the season!
We’ll have more surprises too, like a fall themed scavenger hunt, face painting and free admission to all of our museums! The family art workshop is recommended for ages 4 and up, and under 4 with parental help!
