Free Family Day
December 16, 2023 @ 10:00 am - 1:00 pm
Art & History Museums – Maitland
Bring your whole family to welcome a new season at our Winter Family Day, including a winter-themed Family Art Workshop!
Surrounded by artists’ studios in our main garden, families will use their imaginations to create small world landscapes using clay and natural materials at our Wintery Clayscapes Family Art Workshop! Children will hand-build their very own mini winter wonderlands with clay, twigs, pinecones, seaglass, seashells, mono-printed papers, beads, snowflake sequins, “snow” confetti, paints and other tiny treasures from our garden!
A&H’s Maitland Art Center was originally built in 1937 as an artists’ colony and named the Research Studio. Our founder, artist J. Andre’ Smith, had a dream that all artists creating in this space would experiment with art, and we can’t think of a more fun way to celebrate winter then by sculpting our own mini winter wonderlands on our National Historic Landmark Campus!
We’ll have more surprises too, like a winter themed scavenger hunt, face painting and free admission to three museums! Our family art workshop is recommended for ages 4 and up, and under 4 with parental help!
Space and art supplies are limited (one clayscape per child, while supplies last), so sign up today!
Our Winter Family Day is free of charge and sponsored by Massey Services.
