April 10, 2019 @ 6:30 pm - 8:00 pm
Art & History Museums – Maitland
A&H is pleased to welcome artist Katrina Bello as our second Artist-in-Residence of 2019. Meet Katrina and hear about her inspiration and process. This event is free and open to the public.
From the artist:
A vast wilderness is a source of wonder and beauty. Deserts, marshes, oceans, forests, mountain ranges, glaciers – some of the feelings evoked by these landscapes are solitude and mystery. Their breadth and seeming emptiness speak to us of otherness, our dreams, our fears and what is beyond our control. They are also fragile and undergoing dramatic changes. “Immensities” will be an artist talk about my drawing practice and how it is informed by personal and research narratives that tell a story of the beauty, fragility and necessity of these wildernesses. Some of the narratives that the talk will cover are my experience of migration, the choice of drawing as my primary medium, and the artists who have influenced my art practice.
