Metal Clay Jewelry Workshop: Tide Pool Pendant

Learn how to use a silicone compound to make reusable molds from natural plant materials. You may bring items from your own yard or forage right on the Art Center grounds! Small leaves, tiny flowers, and weeds work best. Then, using your handmade molds and metal clay, you will create charms for bracelets, earrings, or pendants. All pieces will be fired after the workshop and available for pick-up the following week. Included in the materials fee is 10 grams of fine silver metal clay and your choice of one sterling silver chain, one leather cord with clasp, one pair of sterling silver ear wires, OR one lobster claw spring clasp. Additional materials will be available to purchase during the workshop only. For beginners or intermediate level students.

Have you ever wanted to learn to string pearls? Do you want to restring your heirloom Grandmother’s pearls? Join us and learn how! During this workshop you will learn to knot pearls. If you have a strand you want to restring, bring it in! Class fees provide you with your own bead board, strand of freshwater pearls, beading awl & thread, clasp, cutters, and informational sheets to take home. Techniques taught in class will be applicable for your future pearl or bead stringing projects.

In this workshop you will make a set of 3 stacking rings using a combination of fine silver metal clay and sterling silver wire. First you will make 3 dainty bands using sterling silver wire. Then you will learn how to make decorative elements from silver clay using a variety of molds and textures. Then you will solder your decorative pieces onto your ring bands. Finally you will finish and polish your rings.

Metal Clay Jewelry Workshop: Tiny Treasure Trinket Box

In this class we will create a tiny treasure box with a loose fitting lid in a simple way. You will receive 20 grams of fine silver metal clay, and have a variety of mold shapes to choose from. This is meant to be a small (approximately 1” cubed), whimsical trinket box, maybe something to keep a child’s tooth, a lock of hair, a coin from your honeymoon to Italy, the button from your mother’s favorite dress… It is meant to be fun. And you will have fun creating it. A large assortment of textures and molds will be available. You will complete your box to the dried greenware stage. Pieces will be fired after class and available for pick-up the following week. Additional clay will be available for purchase from the instructor.
