Creative Sculpture and Casting Workshop

Create your own custom 2D miniature. Choose from over 20 design molds-all inspired by J. Andre Smith’s Maitland Art Center reliefs. Pour and cast your miniature, then embellish it with paints, dyes, and other decorative materials. Use your finished art piece as decor or jewelry!

Historical Architecture Tour

Join our Exhibitions team on an architectural tour of the Maitland Art Center, Jules André Smith’s 1930s artists’ retreat. Adorned with hundreds of cement carvings and murals by Smith and other artists, the Center holds nearly 90 years of history within its walls. Uncover some of these stories in this free, guided, outdoor walking tour.

Metal Clay Jewelry Workshop: Tiny Treasure Trinket Box

In this class we will create a tiny treasure box with a loose fitting lid in a simple way. You will receive 20 grams of fine silver metal clay, and have a variety of mold shapes to choose from. This is meant to be a small (approximately 1” cubed), whimsical trinket box, maybe something to keep a child’s tooth, a lock of hair, a coin from your honeymoon to Italy, the button from your mother’s favorite dress… It is meant to be fun. And you will have fun creating it. A large assortment of textures and molds will be available. You will complete your box to the dried greenware stage. Pieces will be fired after class and available for pick-up the following week. Additional clay will be available for purchase from the instructor.
