The legacy of Art & History Museums – Maitland can be found in its commitment to artists.
From its beginning in 1937, André Smith viewed The Research Studio as a place for artists to gather, collaborate, experiment and grow. That spirit is alive and well today as the A&H's Maitland Art Center revisits its roots through a variety of programs designed to enrich the artistic community.
The A&H engages professional artists through two application-based residency programs, and professional development programs:
Artist-in-Residence (AiR)
Artists from around the country living and working at the A&H for a six week residency.

Artists-in-Action (AiA)
Studio space for Central Florida artists.

2023-2024 Artists-in-Action applications accepted Summer 2023.
Many thanks to our AiR and AiA Selection Committee.
