The citrus industry had an enormous impact on Central Florida and Maitland in particular during the mid-20th century. This exhibition, which spans the Maitland Art Center Gallery and the Maitland Historical Museum, celebrates the region's finest export. The Exotic Realms of Jules André Smith  explores Smith's extensive body of work, including paintings, watercolors, sculptures, concrete reliefs, theatre set designs, architectural drawings and architectural ornamentation. Through this exhibition, we hope to understand more about his 1937-1942 designs for the Research Studio, which he called “Espero,” or Hope.
