Encaustic is an artistic medium consisting of hot, pigmented beeswax. Encaustic painting is an ancient technique, but it has become increasingly popular with contemporary artists. Come delve into the versatility of this fascinating process that encourages experimentation! In this comprehensive 2-day workshop, students will learn about encaustic history, safety, surfaces, and fusing. A variety of techniques will be explored, such as incising, layering, pigment sticks, mark-making, mixed media collage, mono-printing, and incorporating photos. Students will make multiple pieces of art by utilizing the learned techniques. All materials will be supplied. All skill levels are welcome!

Metal Clay Jewelry Workshop: Earring Extravaganza

In this workshop, you will learn the basic metal clay techniques of rolling, texturing, cutting, and shaping to create 2-4 pairs of earrings. Metal clay can be manipulated like other clays, but once fired is 99.9% pure silver. The instructor will guide you through your first pair, then you can let your imagination run wild to create more! All pieces will be fired after the workshop and available for pick-up the following week. Included in the materials fee is 15 grams of fine silver metal clay and 4 pairs of sterling silver earwires. Additional materials will be available to purchase during the workshop only. For beginners.
